I’m interested in intersectional feminism—the ideology that race, class, gender, sensuality and sexuality differentiate the distribution of power and social relations between groups of women. Growing up on the rural Eastern Shore of Maryland, understanding people's perception of beauty deeply perplexes me.  My work revolves around my struggles with self-esteem, sexuality, desire, isolation and loneliness. Many women experience these struggles because of an ideal beauty, morality, or purpose that is placed upon us by our surrounding environments. Each individual woman has her own story that reflects the discriminations she has faced.

For this series of work, I am conducting research to create parallels between several feminist literature pieces and my relationship with social media and how this effects my self-esteem and self-perception. Beside each painting is the title of the literature being represented in the piece and an explanation of how it connects to the painting.
