BFA Graphic Design

I draw inspiration from lines I see in the world around me, from lines in architecture to organic forms like trees and other plants. I start with these forms, and then digitally recreate them in a new way. I try to shed new light on them and revamp them into simple and colorful forms. I often work in a minimalist style, although I am influenced by Cubism and Pop Art. I look to Cubism when it comes to form and composition, and Pop Art for color and style.

As artists, we are lucky to view the world as if we are “looking through rose-colored glasses.” Some people just see a skyscraper, but I am able to recreate it in a new way through a digital medium with simple shapes and colors to make the world more vibrant and exciting.

For my senior exhibition pieces, I was inspired by Jay Ratner, a graphic design artist for Disney, and Max and Oscar, a graphic design duo. Jay Ratner’s style of small graphics confined into different shapes inspired me to create these pieces with my own spin and incorporate my love of travel. The different icon imagery that Max and Oscar create on their travel posters inspired me to come up with my own imagery for places I love.
