Bree Douthitt
BFA Graphic Design
My work isn’t created for me. It has always been for others. Throughout the design process, I always think about how it will be viewed in the end. I start with research. When it comes down to designing I look carefully at color combinations, symbols, typography, word usage, and every other element in terms of how my client or their customers will be moved or changed when they see the work.
In my personal work I try to express the many different aspects of my identity in order to challenge the preconceived notions of who I am. I am a black woman with a mental illness. I am a young adult and an abuse survivor. I am a middle class, college educated, American. Whatever my designs may be, my personal identity plays an important role.
