BFA Glass
I am a multi-disciplinary artist who uses hot glass and digital illustration to explore the human experience as a collective, rather than that of an individual. I do this by presenting relationships and connections between different facets of Humanity, Nature, and the Divine. I often employ subtle yet archetypal visual components to create emotional and subconscious reactions in the viewer.
My work ultimately aims to evoke a sense of “ousia”, a term from Greek philosophy meaning essence or substance. This is the common element that runs throughout my different artworks, whether it is a blown vessel, a cast object, a portrait, or a landscape.
By exploring the inherent essence of a subject or concept, the viewer is more easily able to understand the collective experience caused by the subject. They are also able contemplate the domino effect the subject has on the external world simply by existing. My art provokes the viewer to lift the veil on daily living by asking if their actions and opinions fit into the bigger picture, and whether they are harmonic with themselves, mother earth, and God.
